Russia banned the importation of pork and beef from Brazil

Rosselkhoznadzor with 1 December banned the import of Brazilian pork and beef. The Office introduces restrictive measures due to the discovery in the meat from Brazil of the growth promoter ractopamine
"Unfortunately, the Rosselkhoznadzor is forced to state that, according to the laboratory studies, the banned growth stimulants were again found in 2017, the Brazilian livestock product coming from Brazil," the Interfax quotes.
Experts note that the measure may cause a slight increase in the prices of sausages, since frozen meat was used primarily in this product. Perhaps, manufacturers will change the recipe.
As for retail trade, Russian pork currently occupies more than 90% of the domestic market of this product, and the alternative to beef can be chicken and turkey.
Recall that 1 August, Rosstat recorded a decline in the "share of imported consumer goods in retail trade resources" in the first quarter of 2017 to 36% - the lowest level since 2008.
