The animals were taken to the zoo.
The customs officers took from the passenger from Kazakhstan six monkeys, which she carried to the Urals in cat carriers. The woman hid in the car two Belarusian and two monochrome gibbons, as well as two Javanese macaques, the ETV reported to the press service of the Ural Customs Administration.
Experts confirmed that animals fall under the Convention on trade in species of wild fauna and flora, which are on the verge of extinction. To bring them to the Urals, the passenger had to draw up the documents.
Now the monkeys are in the zoo. Their cost is estimated at 3,5 million rubles. A guest from Kazakhstan faces up to seven years in prison and a fine of one million rubles.
