Since 1 January, 2019, quantitative restrictions (quotas) for the export of birch logs from Russia to the states that are not members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEC) will come into force. Restrictions will be effective until 30 June 2019 year.
Under this restriction, birch logs, not less than 15 cm in diameter and not less than 1 meters in length, will fall. Total from 1 January on 30 June 2019 year is allowed to take out 567 thousand cubic meters. meters of birch logs.
Quotas will be distributed among participants in foreign economic activity in 2018 by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation in accordance with the approved quota calculation methodology for birch logs exported from Russia from 1 January 2014 on 31 December 2016, based on customs statistics.
To obtain quotas for participants in foreign economic activities, it will be necessary to obtain a one-time export license.

The temporary quantitative restriction on the export from Russia of birch logs is introduced in accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation from 17 July 2018 No. 836 "On the introduction of a temporary quantitative restriction on the export of logs from birch outside the territory of the Russian Federation to states that are not members of the Eurasian Economic Union ".
